My father is currently waiting at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY for a new heart. He was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2002. His heart is currently working at 11% capacity. He is on the 1A list and has been in the hospital for just about 4 months now. The staff at Strong have been nothing short of amazing though. They are like a family there, treating the patients with the best care and always with a smile on their faces. He couldn't be waiting in a better place with great people. This situation has made me realize that New York needs to be educated on the importance of organ donation and how precious it can be. This has made me be proactive in wanting to educate and encourage everyone and anyone to be a donor. Everyone can save a life. Everyone can be someone's hero.
